A loft conversion is a great way of adding extra space and value to any property, particularly in London, where space is at a premium. Low Cost – Skylight / Velux Loft Conversion
A Velux window loft conversion, often referred to as a ‘skylight conversion’ is one of the most cost-effective types of conversion, as well as being the least disruptive. This is because the roof of the property is not altered in any way and only windows are added, which generally doesn’t require any planning permission.
Mid-Range Cost – Dormer Loft Conversion
Dormer loft conversions tend to the most popular in the London area, as it provides a good amount of head height and has the ability to add up to 50 cubic metres of extra space to your property. Generally, the dormer is built out of the slope of the roof, meaning that most of the work can be carried out from scaffolding outside of your home and the conversion tends not to require planning permission.
High Cost – Mansard Loft Conversions
Due to the altering of roof structure, mansard loft conversions tend to be the most expensive and do generally require planning permission. With that said, a mansard loft conversion is also considered one of the most aesthetically pleasing types, and a lot more specifications are available to the customer.
